Gal Gadot is the Israel-born actress who is all set to play the coveted role of Wonder Woman. A superheroine who struggles to understand the intricacies of the world of men but overcomes it to save what's left of the goodness in humans. We first saw Gal in the Fast and Furious movie franchise with the movie's 2009 iteration. She played the role of Giselle Yashar, a slender, motorbike riding she-warrior!


Hailing from a family that gave utmost importance to physical and mental activity. Seldom did her P.E. teacher mother and Engineer father allow their kids to rot away in front of the television. And that probably allowed her to excel in sports and develop the model-like figure. 1. She was Miss Israel 


Gal Gadot was crowned Miss Israel in the year 2004. She was just 18 years of age at the time and was the most beautiful woman that all of Israel had seen.




2. She was an Israeli soldier


As it is mandatory for all Israeli residents to serve in the army, this beauty too, served in the Israeli Defence Forces for 2 years as a combat instructor.



3. Purposely lost the Miss Universe contest


As the winners of national beauty contests get to compete in the Miss Universe pageant, so did Miss Israel 2004. But she purposely underperformed as she had decided that it was all too much. She had even confessed to Jimmy Kennel on his show, "I'm not that type of girl".



4. Her name means


She has a unique name that literally means 'girl' in English but in Hebrew, it has the meaning of 'wave' (Gal) and 'riverbank' or 'shore' (Gadot)



5. Not entirely Israeli


Gal Gadot isn't entirely Israeli. She has 1/4th Polish, 1/4th  German, 1/4th Czech and 1/4th Austrian ancestry. All of those ingredients combined gives us the Powerpuff 'Gal'



6. Her 'Fast & Furious' stunts


She first made her big-screen debut in the hugely successful Fast & Furious franchise (2009), where she played the role of Giselle. Gal being a natural athlete has performed all her stunts herself including the future installments of the franchise.



7. Her love for motorbikes


Gadot is a humungous motorcycle lover and even rides them with ease. In her garage stands the muscular 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R.





8. Trained in several fighting forms


Gal was trained in several martial art forms like Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jujitsu, sword fighting and was even given horseback riding lessons which she was quoted as "amazing, most enjoyable and something that she fell in love with"

10. She almost became a 'Bond girl'


Gal Gadot auditioned for the role of Camille Montes for the Bond movie Quantum of Solace, just after finishing her first year at University. Unfortunately, she lost the role to Olga Kurylenko.



11. The first silver-screen Wonder Woman


She is the first non-American to portray Wonder Woman and the first one to portray the iconic superheroine on the big screen!

She had confessed in an interview that she is an avid basketballer and, even though she wasn't very good at offense she formed a mean defense!

For the audition of Wonder Woman, the participants were put in different trailers. Gal who hates waiting put on Beyonce's Run the World (Girls) and started to dance, to get rid of anxiety!



14. Second highest earning model in Israel


In 2013, Gal was only behind Bar Refaeli in the list of highest paid Israeli models, making her the second most paid models in all of Israel. 



15. Her ancestors' bout with the Holocaust
