The power trio concept became very popular over the traditional vocalist, rhythm guitarist and keyboard player concept. Several popular rock bands emerged from nowhere and rocked the entire world. Slowly, the concept of trio changed to three-person band irrespective of their specialty. Nirvana is one of the all-time best American rock band. It was formed by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain, drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic in Washington. They were popularly called the grunge band as they started from grunge. Just like Green Day, they sold over 75 million records worldwide with just three albums. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2014.

Rush is a Canadian rock band formed in 1968. The famous trio of Geddy Lee(bass and vocal), Neil Peart(drums) and Alex Lifeson(guitar) started producing progressive rock music. Cream is a Brtish band formed by the super trio Jack Bruce(vocal and bass), Ginger Baker(drum) and Eric Clapton)guitar and backup vocal). They co-existed for three years and achieved great heights in the music industry around the world. They created the platform in the 1960s for other popular bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple to come forward and showcase talent to the world. They got inducted in Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993 and got listed in VH1 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time. 

 

5. The Police 

 

The Police is a British band that was formed in 1977 by the legendary Sting( vocal, bass guitar), Andy Summers(guitar) and Stewart Copeland(drum and percussion). Sting was doing rock bands as a school teacher, and after getting influenced by Stewart Copeland, they have formed the band. They got extremely popular globally by the late 1970s. They used to make jazz, reggae, and punk music. In 1986, the band got disbanded, but they reunited in 2008 for a world tour and became the world's highest earning musicians in 2008. No wonders why they won 6 Grammy Awards with just five albums.

 

6. The Jimi Hendrix Experience

 

The band had English as well as Amercian members consisting of the popular singer, guitarist & song writer Jimi Hendrix, bass and backup vocalist Noel REdding and Mitch Mitchell the drummer. It was formed in 1966 in London, and it is safe to call them a Briitish band. They were mostly into hard rock and psychedelic rock. Jimi Hendrick was the heart and soul of the band, and they released three very successful albums before Hendrick's death. 

 

7. Sublime

 

Sublime is an American punk band formed in 1988. It consisted of Bradley Nowell(vocal and guitar), Eric Wilson(bass) and Bud Gaugh(drums). They released nine successful albums five of which are compilation albums.  They have sold over 17 million records worldwide. The band got separated after the death of Nowell due to the heroin overdose in 1996.

 

8. ZZ Top

 

ZZ Top is an American rock band formed in 1969. It has been the most consistent band in terms of members since its inception consisting of Dusty Hill as bassist and vocalist, Billy Gibbons as the band leader, lyricist and manager and Frank Beard as the drummer. They were into punk rock, new wave, and dance-rock music. Altogether, they have made 15 albums and sold over 25 million records.

9. Blind 182 

 

Blind 182 will be remembered for making super fun music and comical videos that people just could not get enough of. It was formed in 1992 and consists of vocalist and bassist Mark Hoppus, guitarist and vocalist Matt Skiba and drummer Travis Barker. They were more into pop punk and punk rock and have released seven albums the recent being California(2016).

 

10. Motorhead

 

Motorhead is a big name in English rock band history. The band was formed in 1975 by singer and bassist Ian Fraser Kilmister, guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. They were into heavy metal and received a huge response from the young generation. They have released 23 studio albums. They have sold over 16 million albums worldwide.
