The 7 Most Epic Movie Fantasy Battles Ever Fought! Goosebumps ahead!

In the real world, people fight other people, for reasons that the same people have made up, for the petty problems that they have created. Whereas in the movies several different kinds of creatures come together to fight off against the forces of evil (which, for some reason have a better cause than the real world humans for me). There have been some exceptional wars in the history of the silver screen, read on to find out more about the most epic battles fought!

1. 300

Who would have thought that a group of 300 Spartans endure hoards of men, around 300,000 sent in by the Persian king Xerxes? Although they fail at the end, the whole movie revolves around the defiance of King Leonidas of Sparta against the Persian invaders, the treachery of one disabled Spartan, Eplialtes and the sacrifice the 300 men make to protect their homeland. King Leonidas and his men perish at the end of the movie. Not only this Battle of Thermopylae, but the entire movie has been shot excellently well with slow motion fight sequences and a dull-golden tinge throughout.

2. Lord Of the Rings – The Two Towers

Each and every battle in the Lord of the Rings is humungous, huge, massive! The Battle for Helm's Deep takes place at Helm's Deep when the Theoden King and Aragorns' moderately sized army takes on the Ocrs (Uruk-hai) sent by the White Wizard, Saruman! The huge battle starts at dusk and continues on until the first light on the 5th day (yes, the very words of Gandalf). Gandalf brings with him a massive army and vanquishes the Uruk-hai to claim victory.

3. The Hobbit – Battle of the Five Armies

One of the most epic and the largest of battles on screen is the one depicted in the final Hobbit movie! The movie itself is named as "Battle of the five armies," is sure to have one huge battle, and it does in the form of the Battle of Erebor. The forces of the Men of the Long Lake, the Elves of Mirkwood & the Dwarves lock horns with the forces of evil consisting of the goblins, wargs of Moria, Gundabad, and the Giants. The epic battle has a screen time of about an hour and a half! It ends with the deaths of Thorin, king of dwarves and Azog, the defiler!

4. Lord of the Rings – The Return of The King

Another epic battle from the Lord of the rings is the Battle of Pallenor fields for Minas Tirith, that ensued between the allies of Gondor consisting of the humans, elves, a dwarf, the ants, eagles and a legion of ghosts, and the combined army of Sauron consisting of Orcs, Uruk-hai, Olephaunts, the nine ghost kings and their Nazgûl or Ringwraiths! Hats off to J. R. R. Tolkien for creating such a wonderful world, Middle-Earth and to Percy Jackson for bringing it onto the big screen! Not to mention the excellent actors portraying each distinct character!

5. Transformers – Dark of The Moon

The then-final installment with Shia LaBouf made sure the Transformers series kept racking in dollars! Director Michael Bay is known, or his explosions, and this one are no different. Especially the final battle of Chicago between the Autobots and the Decepticons (phew, I know!) is a sight to behold. Sentinel Prime sides with Decepticons & as soon as the news of the destruction of Autobots reaches him he moves on to enslave the humans. Just then Autobots make a comeback and win the fight over with the help of, yes Shia again!

6. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows

Perhaps there isn't a kid out there who hasn't seen the Harry Potter movies. Unfortunately, the final three movies were deemed unfit for teens aged below 18. Nevertheless, the final battle of Hogwarts is a grand scheme where Lord Voldemort & his army is locked in battle with Harry Potter and the school of Hogwarts. The evil side of Voldemort has Giants, death-eaters, dementors, acromantulas and more smaller wizards while the Potter army has wizards of all levels and the Hogwarts ghosts! The battle ends with Potter dueling and killing Voldemort.

7. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

It is a battle fought in the fictional realm of Narnia, on the edge of the Great river. Mighty Aslan's army taking on the White Witch's army! It includes all manner of legendary as well as foul creatures. Chief among them are the races of talking animal, faun/satyr, nymph, unicorn, griffin and centaur lead by Peter Pevensie while the witch's army consists of monstrous creatures like minotaurs, werewolves, and hags. The battle resulted with Peter and his three siblings crowned as Kings & Queens of Narnia.
