Being the penultimate month in the year November is pretty much a continuation of the autumn in the North and an extension of the spring in the Southern hemisphere. 1. Named after…




Again, the 9th month before the insertion of January and February was November and hence was named after the Latin term for nine,  novem.




2. Birthstone is…




The birthstone for the people born in this month are topaz and citrine. These precious stones symbolize true friendship.




3. Harper's Bazaar 1st issue




The very first magazine that catered to the fashion needs of women all around the world is Harper's Bazaar. The first issue of this magazine came out on November 1, 1867.




4. X-rays were born!




During an experiment at the Würzburg University in Germany, Wilhelm Röntgen observed & studied the X-Rays and their see-through property on November 8, 1895. This fetched him a Nobel in the year and the 111th element in the periodic table was named after him, as roentgenium.




5. Zodiac signs

6. The first photo of the Lochness Monster




The Lochness monster or just Nessie is an aquatic being that reportedly inhabits the Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. The alleged creature's picture was taken for the first time on November 12, 1933.

UNESCO, short for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, is an international organization and a part of the United Nations. It promotes world peace and international collaboration. It was founded on November 16, 1945.




8. Pelé 's 1000th goal!




Brazilian football legend and the best football player of all-time Pelé scored his 1000th goal on November 20, 1969.




9. John Carpenter's kickass move to bag $1 million dollars!




On Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, a show where contestants answer questions to win money, John Carpenter, on the final question, took a lifeline to call his dad and say that he was going to win the million and then went on to answer the question with 100% confidence. This event unfolded on November 20, 1999.




10. JFK assassination




On November 22, 1963, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the USA was shot thrice from a sniper's position by Lee Harvey Oswald.




11. HBO started off!




Home Box Office, or as we all know it, HBO started operations on November 8, 1972. Since then more that 15 HBO channels have been launched due to people's demands!




12. Thanksgiving




The national holiday to celebrate the giving of thanks for the rich harvests of the preceding year, that fed all the people of the world. It is generally celebrated on the 4th Thursday of every November in the USA.




13. Interesting traits of November borns




People of this month have a razor sharp mind and are easily approachable for they are extremely affable. They are forward thinkers and often come up with creative solutions and ideas to major problems.
