Bangalore or Bengaluru has been named as the MOST DYNAMIC city in the WORLD, by James Lang Laselle at the World Economic Forum in Davos, overtaking major cities of the world including the original Silicon Valley, Shanghai and Boston among others! It has to be noted that quite recently the city came under fire for being unsafe, but it has managed to take the top spot in terms of dynamism where several factors like population, technology, R&D, connectivity, output and corporate activity, education, and real estate investment are considered. 1. The origin of its name
Bengaval-Uru as it was earlier called, meaning the city of guards, it was also given the name Benda-Kaal-Uru (land of boiled beans) when the Hoysala King Veera Ballala was fed with boiled beans in the city long, long ago. Then transformed slowly into Bangalore, it has been officially renamed as Bengaluru.
2. Most number of two-wheelers in the world
It has the distinction of having the most number of two-wheelers in the whole wide world along with the dubious record of highest number of two-wheeler thefts!
3. 'Bangalored' means…
Bangalored means to lay off people. Used primarily by Americans as most of the IT jobs are being outsourced to the Garden city!
4. First electric streetlight in Asia
Bangalore was the first city in Asia to have streetlights powered by electricity and that too by hydroelectric means, by the Shivanasamudra power plant! The city market was the first recipient of electricity in 1905!

7. Lalbagh has one of the oldest rock formations on the Earth
The Lalbagh rock is one of the oldest formations on the surface of the Earth, dating back to around 3,000 million years. The hill is made up of Peninsular Gneiss & is identified as a National Geological Monument.

Bangalore has produced the highest number of scientists in India, who have been nominated for the prestigious Nobel Prize!
